Duck & Goose Hunts in Saskatchewan, Canada
with
Prairie Rose Outfitters Waterfowl Hunting Guides
Saskatchewan bird hunting trips including;
Snow Geese, Greater and lesser Canada Geese, White Fronted Geese
and waterfowl hunts for Mallards, Pintails, and Teal Ducks in
the Quill Lakes Region of Saskatchewan
| Welcome to the
Quill Lakes, home of some of the largest Geese, Duck and
Sand Hill Crane populations on the prairies. Prairie Rose
Outfitters is located on the west side of the Quill Lakes in
one of Saskatchewan’s largest migratory flyways. There is
an opportunity to hunt most game birds available on the
prairies. These include Sand Hill Cranes, Ducks, Snow
geese, white-fronted geese (specklebellies) and lesser and
greater Canada geese. New in 2004 included the addition of
Upland birds (ie. Sharp tailed grouse and Hungarian
partridge) to the list. Bird populations for 2006 look very
positive.
Snow Geese can be hunted in
the morning and afternoon in the Quill lakes region in
Saskatchewan.
The use
of electronic calls for Snow Goose hunting was approved for
some areas of Saskatchewan in 2002. This has
increased the consistency of morning and afternoon hunting
for Snow Geese. Afternoon hunting of Snow Geese is unique to
the Quill lakes region of Saskatchewan. The hunting
opportunity of a lifetime is yours to enjoy on the Quill
lakes with Prairie Rose Outfitters.
Our hunting lodge is located
near Dafoe, Saskatchewan. Located 100 miles east of
Saskatoon on #16 highway. Just 1 mile north of the Jct of #6
and #16 highway.

We usually hunt within a hunt within a
20 mile (35km)
radius of our lodge. Most times our morning drive to the hunt
is less than 10 minutes. The area around the west side
of the Quill lakes
is surrounded by agricultural land, with the wheat, barley and pea
crops providing the necessary ingredients needed to attract the
migrating waterfowl. We are the first to see the migrating waterfowl,
they are naive about
decoys and blinds as they enter the Quill Lakes area. This is the
beginning of when their migration enters active hunting
zones. The new hatch of Snow and Ross geese make for about 4
weeks of some of the best hunting you will ever experience.
There are in excess of 150,000 geese flying out each morning
just on our side of the Big Quill lake alone.
The area has been home to Bill and Shirley Rath their entire
life. Craig and Audrey Rath teamed up with Bill some 10
years ago to form Prairie Rose Outfitters. We have worked to develop good working
relationships with the farmers in the area who welcome hunters
due to the tremendous impact this many migrating geese and
ducks have on their crops. Managing access to these fields to
ensure good hunting for everyone is what we do. |
